Students start their Secondary education with Middle School - Key Stage 3, beginning their preparation for IGCSE exams, taken at the end of Key Stage 4. Their learning is based on the English National Curriculum.

EDUCATION STAGES

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL - KEY STAGE 3 | 11-14 years old
    From Year 7 to Year 9

In Year 9, students begin the options process, choosing their specific IGCSE pathway from a wide range of subjects studied over the subsequent two years. Their studies at Key Stage 4 culminate in exams taken at the end of Year 11.

IGCSE

WHAT IS IGCSE?

IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is globally recognised qualification set by British examining boards sat by the Secondary students at the end of Year 11.

 

WHAT IGCSE EXAMS ARE TAKEN AT TBS WARSAW?

The IGCSE exam boards we opt for are Cambridge International Education, Edexcel and AQA.

 

HOW DOES THE EXAMINATION PROCESS LOOK?

Secondary students take exams from the end of April until mid-June. IGCSEs are externally accessed and the results are available at the end of August.

 

HOW ARE IGCSE EXAMS GRADED?

The IGCSE exams are graded from 9 to 1. Grades 9-4 are considered high level passes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When does the school start?
    For the academic year 2026/2027, the first day of school is 25th August 2026.
    For the new students, we organize an Orientation Day on 24th August, so they get to know our facility and staff before the official first day of school. For more important dates, check our school calendar.
  • Can I enroll my child in the middle of the semester?
    Yes, here at The British School Warsaw, we accept admissions throughout the entire year.
  • What foreign languages do you teach?

    Our secondary students can choose between French, German, and Spanish as an additional language.

  • Is Polish a part of the curriculum?

    Yes, Polish is studied by all secondary students. Polish OKE is aligned with Polish curriculum standards. Non-Polish speakers don’t need to worry – there’s Polish Non-Native path that covers the basics of Polish language.

  • My child doesn’t speak English much. Will they be all right?

    Yes! Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme is designed to support newcomers with little or no English. At TBS Warsaw, children learn English very quickly thanks to our immersive English-speaking environment.

  • Do students wear uniforms?
    Yes, all Secondary students need to wear uniforms. New uniforms can be purchased via trutex.com/eu. There’s also an option to buy second-hand uniforms – available each Monday from 8:00 to 8:30 AM on the main Campus at Limanowska 15 Street.
  • Does the school provide textbooks?

    Yes. The necessary textbooks and materials are provided by the school or via online platforms. Students are expected to bring their own device to classes – a laptop or a tablet.

  • Is the screentime regulated by the school in any way?
    Yes. Our school is a part of the Yondr Phone-Free Schools Programme. It means that upon arrival, each student is placing all their electronic devices in the designated pouch, locking it in front of the teacher. At the end of the day, students unlock their pouches at designated stations. This way, with the help of the staff, students can access their phones, if necessary, while not risking being distracted during classes.
  • Do you offer discounts?

    Yes, we offer a 5% reduction on tuition fees for your third and subsequent children.
